The City of Jennings received a Proclamation from St. Louis County Executive Steven Stenger on behalf of the Beyond Housing/24:1 Jennings Cooperative CDBG Demolition Project. The Proclamation was to recognize the hard work and the collaboration that went forth from the City of Jennings and its partners to make the 24:1/Jennings Cooperative CDBG Demolition Project a success.The basic concept of the CDBG pooling program is that municipalities can pool their CDBG resources together to undertake one project that will benefit all the municipalities involved. The county is promoting this concept to complete larger, more impactful projects more efficiently. The benefits of pooling include cost savings through economies of scale, reduced duplication of labor, and more local needs met.

The 24:1/Jennings Cooperative CDBG Demolition Project started with Kathryn Mayrose reaching out to the former City of Jennings, Director of Housing and Economic Development lrvette Williams in 2014 asking if she would like to be part of Beyond Housing/24:1 project toshare our expertise in demolition process with other municipalities in a collaborative effort with City of Pine Lawn, City of Pagedale and City of Vinita Park she accepted the proposal. Under the new Director of Housing and Economic Development Henry Johnson and his team the beginning of 2016, we collaborated with the three municipalities and started the bidding process and once we all selected Sultan Construction. The 24:1 project launched off ground. The City of Jennings had 12 properties to be demolished under this project. After much work it was a team efforted and the project was completed November 2017.
